Computers in the Classroom
Some would argue that computers in the classroom don’t encourage a child to use their mind enough to come up with answers. But it must be considered that browsing the Internet, learning computer skills, and using creative methods to find answers might be more mentally stimulating than traditional methods. Stimulating learning methods that encourage initiative and learning new skills make it easier for a child to learn many things and develop a better memory.
Studies show that memory can be enhanced by a number of stimulating things that use different senses. Computers in the classroom can stimulate the auditory, tactile, and visual senses, which stimulate brain cells and enhance memory. Not only do children learn skills that they will need later in life, but their minds are stimulated and they can learn more effectively.
To understand the theory of learning with computers, you have to understand that a colorful visual, a spoken audio, and tactile learning experience reaches a wider number of children when it comes to learning. You may have heard adults refer to employment training by saying they are a visual person, or they have to learn by doing, which involves touch. With the theory that different people learn and memorize things using different senses, computers can appeal to a wider range of students.
A teacher who is able to stimulate all of the senses by including the other senses of taste and smell can reach a complete range of students, in theory. Those who aren’t stimulated by computers in the classroom might better experience certain things by tasting them or smelling them, when the computer gurus won’t. Understanding how the mind learns and commits to memory using the different senses can spell success in all children’s educations.
