Curriculum Development

Curriculum development, used in school as a basis of learning and teaching, is a system most or all schools go by in order for their students to become scholarly and intelligent adults. It is mandatory for the education of students in the school. However, sometimes this system may be flawed. We might not think it, but teachers sometimes create different ways to educate their students that are not actually effective. What can we do? Is there a way to combat this sort of thing?

Fortunately, there is. The school administration needs to create a steady, uniform curriculum. This would be for all teachers to abide by, allowing the students to get the education they deserve. These young adults need school in order to prepare them for another phase of their lives—college. College isn’t easy. It isn’t supposed to be easy. To have students follow one and only one curriculum is a must if we want them able to pass college and get real jobs. This uniform curriculum that needs to be created must not be revised to side with one teacher. It has to be equal and just, therefore, lessons may need to be viewed by the whole administration. This way, the curriculum development of schools will not be flawed. The curriculum will be mandated and approved by everyone.

Another way to help curriculum development to stay strong and stand its ground is to use textbooks. Textbooks have the readings, the questions, and the problems that will help define students and improve their learning. Many different subjects have the same company brand, which will help make the process easier. Using one publishing company instead of many will create a focus that will allow teachers to give assignments that don’t go against other textbooks. Everything becomes uniform this way.

Some believe that there should be no kind of curriculum developments because of students’ different ethnicities, interests, and behaviors. However, making some lessons adaptable for some students but not others creates a bias, which does not solve anything. It creates a problem. Curriculum development needs to be enforced. Instead of making different lessons, a combination of different aspects in one lesson can satisfy every student. Curriculum development must be strong, and using these techniques will help this problem. Many students drop out of school. They drop out not only for personal reasons, but because they just “don’t seem to get it.” Creating a uniform lesson plan in the school will not cause any more confusion among students, teachers, or parents. This process will not burden or hinder the foundation of schools, but rather help it excel.
