How To Do Vedic Math To Make Math Easier
There are sixteen principles or formulas known as Sultra in the processes of Vedic math which found its origins in India. How to do Vedic math is about applying simple patterns to solve math problems even in your mind. The method is a system using ‘vertically and crosswise’ for problem solving.
Working with fractions, either adding or subtracting, can be a stumbling block for a lot of people. In a minute you will learn the most basic concept of using vedic math to make working with any math problem much simpler. The Vedic method is always going across or working vertically.
Here is a simple place to start using the numbers 100, 1000, 10, 000, 100, 000 and continuing. This is very easy to do in without writing down and really hard to come up with wrong answers. The simplicity of the formula is just this; see how far away each number is removed from 9 and the last number from 10.
Here is the example: 1000 – 444 = you will apply the formula by subtracting each number using nine and the last using ten. The first number then is 9 minus 4 is 5, the next number is 9 minus 4 is 5 and the last number is 10 minus 4 is 6 so the answer then is 556. 1000 – 546 = you will find how far each number is less than 9 with the last number is less than 10. 9 – 5 = 4, 9 – 4 = 5, 10 – 6 = 4 so the ending result is 454.
A simple technique for multiplying using the ‘vertically and crosswise’ method and with this there is no need to know any multiplication tables higher than five times five. To do multiplication you will work across and then down or vertically. Ten is the base for the first number of the sum meaning how far away the numbers you are multiplying are from ten and then these answers are multiplied to get the second number of the sum.
Just two little samples of how Vedic math works. It is about learning the formulas and practicing the techniques.
