Foundation Stage Curriculum

The very idea of Foundation Stage Curriculum is based upon the philosophy that learning is not spontaneous. In fact it should be properly planned and structured in a particular way so that there is special emphasis upon activities that are not just educating and motivating but are fun for every child. Therefore the people engaged in delivering the Foundation Stage curriculum focus on providing children with a mode of learning through planned play.

Curriculum Theories

The idea of curriculum is hardly new, but the way we understand and theorize about it has altered over the years, and there remains considerable dispute as to its meaning. Curriculum has its origins in the running/chariot tracks of Greece. It was, literally, “a course.” In Latin curriculum was a racing chariot; the root word, currere, means “to run.”

Curriculum Theories

All learning that is planned beforehand and guided by an educational institution and carried on individually or in groups, whether in school or outside, is called curriculum theory. It can be regarded as a set of ideas about and application of knowledge that has been gained through years of study, experience, and general observation. It goes through a process of critical analysis by educators as they seek to bridge the gap between the theory and practice of education appropriate to the social, economic, and political conditions prevalent. The purpose, aim, subject matter, experience, etc., and how it is put into practice, how much the learner benefits from this, and the effect it has on the society all determine the curriculum.

Curriculum Development

Curriculum development, used in school as a basis of learning and teaching, is a system most or all schools go by in order for their students to become scholarly and intelligent adults. It is mandatory for the education of students in the school. However, sometimes this system may be flawed. We might not think it, but teachers sometimes create different ways to educate their students that are not actually effective. What can we do? Is there a way to combat this sort of thing?
