Instructional Design Theory
“I am always ready to learn, although I do not always like being taught. “
Winston Churchill
So it is not only the slackers who dislike being taught. What is it about learning and teaching that makes it difficult for some and easy for others? If we go back to our school days and observe the classroom setting, we come across various teaching styles and many different learning techniques. The question here is which one works best to impart knowledge. Is there a different technique for each subject? Or does it depend upon the learning audience? The ultimate question is, What are the factors that ensure an excellent learning experience?

Instructional Design Process
The Instructional Design Process is the systematic development of specifications using learning and instructional theory to ensure the quality of instruction. The process consists broadly of determining the current state and needs of the learner, defining the end goal of instruction, and creating some intervention to assist in the transition. It is the entire process of analysis of learning needs and goals and the development of a system to meet those needs. Ideally the process is informed by pedagogically tested theories of learning and may take place in student-only, teacher-led, or community-based settings. Instructional design can start at any point in the design process. Often a glimmer of an idea is developed to give the core of an instruction situation. By the time the entire process is done the designer looks back and he checks to see that all parts of the "science" have been taken into account.

Instructional Design Model

Instructional design is the process by which the learning needs of the society are analyzed and through systematic development of instructional and educational technology instructional design models are created to enhance the instruction process. The instructional designers use these technologies as well as multimedia tools to maximize the effectiveness and efficiency of learning experiences. The process involves identifying the current state and needs of the learner and then creating models to facilitate transfer of knowledge and skills to the learner to achieve the end goals. Models help us to actually make sense of the world we live in.

Instructional Design Theory
There are three essential components to successful learning; the instructional design theory, learning object taxonomy and the prescriptive learning material. Of the three components, the instructional design theory provides the structure and criteria in which various learning objects and prescriptive learning materials can successfully achieve learning goals. It provides a system of learning that is flexible and personalized. But while this concept is initially identified with the conventional classroom learning setup, this concept of learning is now predominantly viewed in its technological perspective.
